Associates LLC, Carolyn is a consultant to law firms and coaches attorneys on client development, leadership and professional development.
Carolyn draws on over 20
years of national and international experience in professional services marketing and business development coaching. Carolyn's professional service marketing experience, combined with her business expertise, provides clients with an informed and insightful perspective throughout the coaching engagement. Her expertise and insights are of particular assistance when firms turn to Carolyn for help with broader talent development initiatives.
- Client Development Coaching. Carolyn provides business development coaching to attorneys at all levels — Associates to Senior Partners — across a broad range of practice areas, in mid-sized to large law firms. She has extensive experience in designing and delivering coaching programs that are uniquely tailored to the individual, work to inspire positive and enduring behavioral change and build firm revenue.
- Professional Development. Carolyn plays a vital role in helping attorneys assess and build talent capability — bridging performance gaps and building upon existing strengths. She is adept in asking the right questions that help identify specific needs and address obstacles — both of which are foundational to achieving results and professional goals.
- Talent Assessment. Carolyn is a qualified administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, The Highlands Ability Battery (identifying natural abilities) and Right Path Leadership 360 assessments. Coaching and talent development programs become more powerful and effective when augmented with specific behavioral information available to both the coach and attorney through assessments such as these.
- Client Teams. As a valuable external partner to practice group leaders and law firm professionals, Carolyn coaches client teams and/or practice groups on best practices for client service and relationship development. In this capacity, Carolyn assists client teams in assessing client relationships, identifying and addressing obstacles, uncovering opportunities and creating client focused processes and strategic plans that are aligned with practice group and firm business objectives.
Prior to launching Sklar & Associates LLC in 2004,
Carolyn was Director of Marketing for a UK law firm where she was responsible for building and maintaining the firm's brand and supporting the firm's business development process. In addition to the legal sector, she also has experience working in the architecture, real estate and accounting industries.
Carolyn is an active member of the International
Coaching Federation, Legal Sales and Services Organization and the St. Louis Organization Development Network.
Carolyn and her husband currently reside in
St. Louis, Missouri. Beyond her interest in attorney talent and client development, Carolyn also enjoys entertaining friends, baking all things chocolate and diving into new culinary adventures. She loves live jazz, finds time for the gym and balances her reading time between the WSJ and great books!
